Fanny packs reached their height of popularity in the mid '80s and '90s but who says that fashion trumps convenience? Kangaroos have a pouch where they can keep things, conveniently located on their front side. Wouldn't it be handy to have a similar pouch to put, money, credit cards, a phone or keys in when going out... actually isnt that what pockets and handbags are for? OMG I just realised this is useless as well as ugly, youd have to be mental to want to make one really, but if you want to I put directions below.
Type of CraftEdit
- 1/2 yard of one fabric
- 1 yard of another color or patterned fabric
- Sewing Machine
- ice pick to perform the lobotomy youll need in order to think having one of these is either useful or desirable.
"'Step One:"'Perform lobotomy, then Choose your fabric and decide which one you want to be the main piece and then the other fabric will serve as the pouch. You will need the paper and pen to create a simple pattern before getting started with the fabric. Decide what shape you pouch will be and if you want any fabric embellishments. We chose a semi-circle shape for the pouch and then cut out a kangaroo for decoration on the front of the pouch. You will also need to make patterns for the straps and main piece, we chose a large shallow half circle sort of like a rectangle and the bottom corners are rounded. (See pictures)
"'Step Two:"' Cut out the fabric using your paper patterns.
"'Step Three:"' After pinning the pieces together use the sewing machine to attach the pouch to the main piece by sewing around the edges. Also if you want to add any embellishments sew those on to the pouch before you attach it to the main piece!
"'Step Four:"' Sew the straps to the main piece, make sure if fits comfortably around the waist that will be wearing it.
"'Step Five:"' Try it on and put your super convenient pouch to use!
